Alexandra Cohen Commits To Northwestern
« on: August 20, 2010, 10:35:27 AM »

Alexandra Cohen, the No. 47 prospect in the 2011 class, has given a verbal commitment to play at Northwestern University, according to her club coach, Ralph Gesualdo of the Midwest Elite Platinum.

The 6-foot-5 post from Bayside, Wis., who plays at Nicolet High School had to sit out the second half of the summer evaluation period with mono, but still came to her decision. She chose Northwestern over Iowa, Duke, Stanford, North Carolina State and Michigan, among others. When she was with the Midwest Elite, Cohen helped her team to a 50-3 record this summer.

"I love the team and coaching staff, and the academics are amazing," Cohen said, adding that she believes Northwestern will fight for a Big Ten championship and NCAA berth in the next few years, if not sooner.

"She is a complete player who has an exceptional work ethic," Gesualdo said. "She takes a tremendous amount of pride in maximizing her potential on and off the court."
