Looking for a team
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:38:43 PM »
My name is Ashley Vazquez, and I am a senior at Marist High School in Bayonne NJ. I am a 5'2" point guard, with excellent court vision. I have excellent ball handling skills, as well as being able to drive to the hoop and draw the foul. I average 15 points per game, high assist ratio, and shoot around 75% from the foul line but have had many 100% games. I have accumulated over 1000 pts in my high school career. I have made second team all county 3 years in a row, 4 yr Varsity letter winner, have county, and state championships under my belt, as well as awards. I don't believe a game is loss until the final buzzer and won't let anyone playing with me believe otherwise. I have enough motivation for all. I am tough having played while injured, and if you didn't know, would never know I was hurt. I am looking to play for a school with that family environment. We got a new coach this year and he was not familiar with the recruiting process, or the way the school handles student athletics. The previous coach talked with the schools, sent the films, and made sure grades and NCAA clearinghouse task were in order. He retired and is dying so here I am. There were only 2 senior female basketball players, and we have been trying, along with our parents to work our way through this process. If you have a spot for me let me know. I have public film on a website called motion box. You will have to get an account, but it is free. My screen name there is ashleyv10, I can also be googled, and most of the games I have played in are on maxsprep. This will give you an idea of my game. The tapes online were provided via parents and coaches of teams I have played against, this tells you the type of person I am. Contact me if you have something for me. I want to major in Physical Therapy.

I thank you both for your suggestions, but what I need is a college team not AAU. I graduate in June. AAU is not a good option for me. I have a twin sister who needs to go to college also in the fall. I don't want to waste my mom's money traveling hoping to get a scholarship, when that money can help pay tuition. I studied hard and played and practiced hard to help my mom and sister. Hopefully something will come through. AAU can be $3000 plus for the summer. I know players that did it.  2 girls 2 tuitions for 4 years has been a lot on my mom. I will keep that as a option.

Dallas Christian College is currently seeking players for the upcoming season.  I just took over the program in March and I have been tasked with the responsibility of rebuilding the women's program to the level of our men's.  The men are currently ranked # 5 in the nation under the NCCAA DII umbrella, and I am confident that the women's program can do better.  DCC is on the progress of finalizing all certifications to become NAIA within the next 2 years.

DCC is a 4 year institution located in Dallas, Texas and we do not offer athletic scholarships, but we have very attractive academic scholarships that students with GPA's as low as 2.5 can qualify for.  Our tuition rates are very comparable to a junior college which makes it attractive for students.

Please visit our website at www.dallas.edu and feel free to email at arivera@dallas.edu with any questions that you may have.
