Fresh after winning the FHSAA Class 5A state basketball championship, the Dillard girls' team has been invited to play in the second annual ESPN RISE National High School Invitational.
The Panthers are the only team, boys or girls, invited to play in the event from South Florida.
Dillard (26-4), seeded-second in the tourney, will play Oak Hill (Va.) in a semifinal game on April 2 at Coppin State University in Baltimore. The winner plays Peddie (N.J.) or Lake Mary (Fl.) for the championship on April 3 on ESPN2 at 11:30 a.m.
Dillard won their fifth FHSAA championship with a 53-44 victory over Boca Ciega. They are led by senior Dawnn Maye, a Georgia Tech signee and Florida Gatorade Player of the Year.
