Nova Southeastern University (@NSUWBasketball) committ Khadejra Young had 28 points as the Nova girls basketball team defeated Boynton Beach 83-66 in the opening game of the Play for a Cure Shootout at Archbishop McCarthy.
Nova coach Jason Hively also pointed to senior point guard Jasmine Kelly's ability to run the offense as an important factor to the team's success.
Kelly, Trellanie English-Lurry and Bernadette Devaney each had 12 points for the Titans (17-2).
"The best thing about this time of year is there's a lot of good basketball so I enjoy it," Hively said. " It lets you know where you team is and it's good to test yourself."
Shakoa Edwards had 26 points to lead the Tigers (17-4).
All proceeds of the Shootout went to the Kay Yow Foundation, who was a former N.C. State women's basketball coach that was diagnosed with breast cancer.
