Ashley ShannonAshley Shannon is a three sport student athlete in basketball, track and cross country at Father Lopez High School her main sport is basketball which she plays forward at Father Lopez and helped her team to 2 District Championships and is well on her way helping them to a third this year and a possible Championship with her great rebounding and defense. Ashley has earned All District, All Area honorable mention, All tournament at the Father Lopez Holiday classic last year and helped her team win the Championship.
Academically Ashley Shannon is a 3.95-4.0 student and a top student in her class and has earned Classroom Star Honors from the Orlando Sentinel and this year she won the Wendy Heismen award for her school and both awards recognized her great sports and academic excellence . Ashley will be graduating with a Summa Cum Laude Honors High School Diploma. Ashley is member of the National Honors Society, National Honors and Merit Society , National Society of High School Scholars, Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish club, and Ventures scholar. Ashley also has many community service hours she performs with her local PAL leagues.
Ashley has been mentored by several people including Mr. Marcus People who was her first basketball trainer who encouraged her at all times to never give up, Mr. Brandon Clay of Peachstatehoops.com who gave her the opportunity to play in front of hundred of college coaches and wrote article about her performances and always encourage her to reach for the best. Mr. Billy Carson and Shecanplay.org, Coach Johnson a coach at Halifax High School is her mentor and trainer today and has always taught her about basketball and recruiting,Berecruited.com who gave her the place to put her videos and blogs for coaches to see and view, Coach O'malley Track and Cross Country Coach at Father Lopez who helped her with running and endurance, Coach Don Anderson trainer who helped with guard skills. Mrs. Dowdy who has worked so hard sending out transcripts to so many coaches and schools.
Ashley Shannon has been recruited by and in contact with 271 coaches from all divisions from berecruited and Brandon Clay's individual showcases she has also gone on many official visits but the one thing she was looking for is a top 15 school in the nation that she could call home and play basketball for regardless of division. Ashley is so grateful for her choice and Coach Fahey and Coach Morse took her in as their own on her visit on Jan 19, 2010. This was the day she said this school felt like home although cold she said she is a native New Yorker so this is nothing it is the Florida heat she is not fond of.
