@UNCG_WBK Spartans announce 2010-11 women's basketball slate
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's women's basketball team will play a 28-game regular-season schedule, highlighted by 13 home games and a Thanksgiving trip to Miami, Fla., head coach Lynne Agee announced Thursday.

The Spartans will host Winston-Salem State for an exhibition on Nov. 6 before opening the season at Clemson on Nov. 12. UNCG will then return home to face UNC Wilmington on Nov. 15 before heading down to Charleston, S.C., for a contest at Charleston Southern on Nov. 22.

UNCG will spend Thanksgiving on the road for the second straight season, this time at the University of Miami's tournament on Nov. 26-27. There, UNCG will play Eastern Illinois on the 26th and either Miami or Florida Atlantic the following day.

The Spartans are back on the road Dec. 1 at Morgan State before finally returning to Greensboro for a four-game homestand. UNCG will host the Big South's High Point and Radford on Dec. 7 and 11, respectively, before opening Southern Conference play against Wofford on Dec. 18. UNCG and Furman will battle two days later to wrap up the homestand.

New Year's Eve day will see UNCG hit the road to take on Davidson for an afternoon tilt, and the Spartans will open play in 2011 at Western Carolina on Jan. 3 to kick off a stretch of four games in eight days. UNCG returns home to host Georgia Southern on Jan. 5 before making the Chattanooga-Samford swing on Jan. 8 and 10.

A Jan. 15 game at College of Charleston is followed by a three-game homestand, starting with Elon on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Appalachian State then comes to town Jan. 22, followed by Davidson on Jan. 25.

The Spartans head back to South Carolina for games at Wofford and Furman on Jan. 29 and 31, respectively. A game at Georgia Southern on Feb. 5 starts another stretch of four games in eight days, as UNCG hosts Western Carolina on Feb. 7, makes the short trip to Elon on Feb. 10 and hosts College of Charleston on Feb. 12.

After a week to recover, UNCG will host Chattanooga for Senior Day on Feb. 19 and closes out the home portion of the schedule against Samford on Feb. 21. UNCG finishes the regular season at Appalachian State on Feb. 26.

The Southern Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships return to Chattanooga, Tenn., this season. The tournament will be held March 3-7.

"We've got to be ready," Agee said. "These are successful programs, winning programs that we have on the schedule. Our mix of travel with some top teams in each of the other leagues is going to be very challenging.
