The MTSU Elite Camp was a huge success! I really enjoyed the college coaches attention to detail and willingness to TEACH! After the 1st day at the camp I sent a text message to Tom Insell (Rick Insell son and head coach of the TN Flight) I told Tom that his Dad (Rick Insell) surrounds himself with excellence and that's one of the reasons that he has been so successful.
The instructors took pride in managing and controlling their work stations. Each instructor brought great energy and effort into each session. The passion to help the campers get better was evident!
Coach Alex Fuller seemed to run the show as she skillfully kept everything organized and moving in a forward direction. It was like watching a conductor of an orchestra. Coach Kim Clark and her crew managed the younger campers and were heavily involved in stopping and teaching and also demonstrating. I rarely see the coaches actually run the drills themselves and get sweaty. Coach Lynn Burkey was a great leader of administration and overseer.
Coach Insell addressed the campers on several occasions and he would actually get on the court and physically demonstrate the drills and proper technique himself. I didn't know coach could move like that lol.
Coach Insell's presence demands attention. When he walks into the room or gym it's like the President has arrived. His demeanor commands respect, but at the same time he is approachable! Big props to the MTSU staff for making SheCanPlay feel right at home!
