Alicia DeVaughn (2010, 6-5, C, Blanch Ely High): The daughter of WNBA Champion Yolanda GriffinTonight, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that 6'4" (athletic and versatile!) Center Alicia DeVaughn has given Coach Brenda Frese her verbal commitment to join the Maryland basketball family beginning with the 2010 academic year.
Alicia, a senior at Ely High in Broward County, is an All-State selection from Florida. She was nationally-ranked and highly sought after by many major programs. Her choice of Maryland is yet another boost to Coach B's already outstanding incoming class of 2010.
Alicia DeVaughn represents the fourth verbal for the Terps and the third Top 50 player along with 5-10 guard Lauren Mincy from University High in Newark, New Jersey. DeVaughn helps Maryland lock in on a possible high end Top Five class nationally with a couple of key prospects - one being forward Whitney Bays from West Virginia - expected to make decisions in the next couple of days.
